Lunch Money
Lunch Money is a short-form and long-form improv comedy show designed to provide the audience with a perfectly balanced “”improv lunch.”” The show features a short-form improv set filled with fast-paced scenes and physical games, followed by a long-form improv set with dynamic characters and grounded scenes. The aim is to showcase a wide variety of improv techniques and explore new games and long-form styles.
Some of our favorite short-form games include Four Square, Handsy, Bat, Da Thinky (where two people on stage act as the characters’ inner thoughts), I’m Writing A Letter, and Ping. We are open to trying any short-form game that works for four people. Typically, we play 2-3 short-form games before transitioning into long-form improv.
For long-form, we enjoy performing mono scenes and a format we call “”A Susan,”” which uses plot and recurring characters to mimic a made-up sitcom episode. With a smaller group of four, each of us often plays multiple characters, sometimes even hopping around the stage to portray two characters in the same scene. We also love doing montages and a style we call “”Spokane.””
The four of us met in college at the University of Michigan, where we were split between two different improv groups: Max and Nicole were in Comco, while Macy and Paul were in Midnight Book Club. Initially, there was a deep rivalry between the groups, but our mutual love for improv eventually brought us together. We performed in several shows and worked on sketches and short films throughout undergrad. When all four of us moved to LA around the same time, we decided to combine our skills and styles to form Lunch Money—and we think we struck gold! Basically, we’re best friends who want to do improv together for the rest of our lives.
Our shared history has created a strong sense of trust, chemistry, and a specific group mind that can be felt in all of our scenes.

Heyday
Heyday has been performing together for over 10 years. Starting as a resident team at the iO west Theater (RIP!), they’ve called the Westside their performance home for 6+ years. They try to play with patience, reverence, and gusto and seek to melt the brains of any and every audience member. Results may vary.
