What is the Resident Team Program?
The Resident Team Program is a 3 month performance residency at M.i.’s Westside Comedy Theater. resident teams perform biweekly on Monday nights at 7, 8, or 9 PM.
All teams receive a 50/50 split of the box office revenue for their show (after the first 8 tickets sold, to cover the cost of operating the room). Teams are paid via their point person on a monthly basis.
Before the end of the term, we will hold open auditions for the upcoming term.
What are we looking for?
- Fantastic improv teams with no more than 10 players and (preferably) no less than 4.
- Diversity.
- Gender Parity.
- Teams who rehearse together (judges can always tell)
Please note that a team is a group of people, minimally 2 performers, who plan to consistently perform together, should they be selected for a residency. If your submission does not align with this, it is not a fit for our residency program. Instead, check out our pitch a show option.
How to submit your team?
Have your teams designated point person (this person will act as a liaison between your team and The Westside) email the following to residentteams@westsidecomedy.com.

How do auditions work?
Your team will perform a 15 minute set in front of a panel of judges and live audience. YES! There will be an audience vote, so please encourage friends/family/strangers to come support your team! The first 11 teams will be decided by the judges and the 12th team will be the one with the highest audience vote. Show lineups will be randomly selected and announced in the days prior to auditions. Please make sure you are able to make yourself available for whichever time your team is scheduled to audition.
If your team is selected to join our theater as a Resident Team, you 3 month term of shows will start once the current term has ended.
