Come be a part of the decision making process for our next round of Resident Teams! In the event of a tie, the decision will come down to an AUDIENCE VOTE!
Backyard was formed in the backyard of one of the founding members of its partner group, Space Heater, sometime in 2021. The group performs a Town style long form with an opener introducing the characters followed by a variety of styles of scenes between those characters throughout a connected set of locations.
When we perform with our partner team, Space Heater, we do “A Tale of Two Towns”, where the second group portrays the Town format but without an additional suggestion, reflecting themes they saw in our performance. However, each group also operates as an independent whole, so this connection is definitely not a requirement.
This group has performed at The Glendale Room and fanaticSalon. We have worked with a few different directors for our group, which has included: Al Garcia, Jason Shotts, Roberto Lewis, Ruby Willman, and Zach Huddleston. All our actors have a background with Westside Comedy Theater.
Glass Clown is a high energy, fast paced team that performs the Pretty Flower. They met in September 2021, through Jake Jabbour’s WE Improv workshop. They liked each other so much that they kept everyone from the workshop class and formed a team. In addition to being a residency team at WE Improv, Glass Clown has performed at the Clubhouse, LA Connection, and will be performing at the Pack Theater on May 21st. They’re coached by Dayna LoBosco. The team has 4 POC, and 4 members that identify as queer.
Ghost Dog was originally cast as a house long form team at The Second City Hollywood in February 2018 and performed there (exclusively) from March 2018 until the theater shut down in March 2020 (around45 shows). But we’re nerds and we had access to Frank Caeti, so we’ve kept rehearsing via Zoom this entire time. We do smart and connected ensemble-based play. We developed our go-to form (the Ghost Dog) with Frank Caeti:
